The Grauer School's 2022 Teacher and Student of the Year
Congratulations to our 2022 Teacher of the Year, Nick Scacco, and Student of the Year, Billy B. '26! They were honored at the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce (ECC) "Salute to Teachers" event on May 24. We're sharing the information that was presented to honor them at the ECC ceremony below.
The Grauer School's 2022 Teacher of the Year: Nick Scacco
Nick Scacco is a shining example of the relationship-based education that The Grauer School is known for. For the past 10 years, Nick has taught 7th grade Life Science, 9th grade Biology, and Environmental Science. He has also coached our successful middle school flag football team, facilitated our Science Olympiad team, and led many expeditions for our students. Nick excels in giving his students hands-on laboratory experiences, including having students build their own microscopes, care for the school garden, and conducting multiple biotechnology labs. We are proud to be honoring Nick as our 2022 Teacher of the Year.
The Grauer School's 2022 Student of the Year: Billy B. '26
One cannot have a bad day at The Grauer School with Billy in the classroom. As a learner, the value he holds himself most accountable to is his own intellectual curiosity; genuinely enthusiastic about every detail of the process. Further, Billy is multifaceted, cultivating joy both in music and athletics. However, the most important quality is that Billy is one of the kindest people you will ever meet in your life. Teacher and student alike can always count on Billy’s compassion to inspire them to strive to be their best selves. We are honored to have Billy Beltran as our ECC winner.
