The Grauer School of Rock Gala: Gratitude!
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Grauer School of Rock Gala on Saturday, May 3, at the Belly Up! It was truly a rockin’ evening in support of our Visual & Performing Arts Program.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to our Board of Trustees; to our faculty and staff who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event; to Kaivan Mohsenzadeh for being our event emcee; and to all of our donors. Special thanks to our incomparable Visual and Performing Arts department teachers for all of their efforts to showcase the work of their students—Isaac Langen and Tom Hopper (Music teachers); Erin Langen (Theatre teacher); Johnny King (Visual Arts teacher); and Dina Treibel (Film and Multimedia teacher). We would also like to send heartfelt thanks to our talented Grauer students, Alumni students, and faculty who performed music and improv theatre together at the Belly Up.
Your support goes far beyond the rockin’ vibes of the evening; your donation will directly support your student's creativity, confidence and collaboration. It is an incredible gift to be a part of a community where the creative spaces that we hold for our students are valued by so many. Your attendance and contributions made this evening an overwhelming success.
If you missed the event and would still like to Raise the Paddle virtually to support our Visual & Performing Arts, please click here. On behalf of all of us, please know how deeply grateful we are for your generosity and enthusiasm.

This week's column is a tribute to the late Susana Trilling, a chef and a real teacher. Her classroom was a spacious teaching kitchen in Oaxaca, which inspired The Grauer School's teaching kitchen, and also inspired the world. Her lectures came through stories, scents, and presence.
Our talented Senior class members completed their Senior Graduation Defense presentations, where they petitioned for graduation with distinction in a given area. We are so impressed by their embodiment of our core values, their talent, their gratitude, and their ability to articulate what legacy they are leaving The Grauer School.
The Grauer School's teachers presented Academic and Core Values Awards at our schoolwide assembly on May 13. The departments that presented awards included Social Studies, Math, English, Science, World Languages, Physical Education, and Community Service.
Last week, Dr. Grauer introduced the rise of super-efficient, AI-driven SAT prep tools. This week, he is taking that idea much further—into the realm of character, empathy, and purpose. If we can gamify test prep for optimal motivation, why not human growth and spirit?
Girl Rising Club students participated in a 2-hour workshop with Talena Handley, owner of Girlie Garage, an automotive consulting company. Our students got under the hood of two different cars to learn basic automotive safety and maintenance, as well as how to navigate working with a mechanic and handling any potential emergency situations.
Economics students explore entrepreneurship by developing business proposals. The students had to pitch and defend their proposal in front of a formal panel, presenting their mission, products and services, and marketing plan.
