The Grauer School Film Department submitted twelve film projects to the 2020 iVIE Awards & Student Film Festival this year, and received five nominations in the High School and Middle School categories.

The Grauer School Film Department submitted twelve film projects to the 2020 iVIE Awards & Student Film Festival this year from Advanced Film, Film Studies, 8th Grade English class, and 7th Grade Multimedia class. The iVIE Award nominations were just announced and The Grauer School Film Department received the honor of five nominations in the High School and Middle School categories.
The High School nominations are “Your Light”, a film where man meets fear by Cody D. '20, submitted in the Short Narrative category; and “How To Make A Friend”, a film showing a creative way to make a friend by Jason W. '21, submitted in the Do It Yourself category. Gratitude goes out to Christina Burress for her work with Advanced Film students and for their submissions to the film festival. The Middle School nominations for 8th Grade are “How To Wash Your Big Dog” by Kendall B. '24 submitted in the Do It Yourself category, and “How To Make A Candle” by Lily B. '25 submitted in the Do It Yourself category. Many thanks to English 8 teachers, Brian Dugan and Jillian Bourdon, for the How-To video project assignment. The nomination for 7th Grade in the Documentary and At Home categories is “Grauer Quaranteens,” a collection of vlogs during the coronavirus pandemic from students in the Multimedia class. Thanks to Multimedia teachers Tom Hopper and Dina Treibel for the vlog assignment and submission to the iVIE Awards. The iVIE Awards & Student Film Festival will announce winners in an online ceremony on Wednesday, June 17.

Grauer High School musicians performed a diverse and eclectic range of songs, curated by the students themselves, at the Music Cafe Night event on March 21.

The Grauer School had two High School teams competing at the San Diego Science Olympiad competition at the University of San Diego on March 16. Our teams competed in a variety of events across the STEAM spectrum.
