High School ASB Presents 2024 Pep Rally
From Shelley Joslin & Dominique Bartoughian, High School ASB/Leadership Teachers:
On November 21, the High School ASB presented the school's second annual Pep Rally. All of the students gathered on the basketball court behind their grade level sign. Students were dressed in the color assigned to their grade, which was: 12th grade-Red, 11th Grade-Orange, 10th Grade-Yellow, 9th Grade-Green, 8th Grade-Blue, and 7th Grade-Purple. The "Opening Ceremonies" started at 12:30pm, with each grade level performing an entertaining dance routine. Then, small groups of students from each grade participated in a number of games, including tug-of-war, limbo, "find the object", and a relay race to determine the winning team!
The 12th Grade was the grade level with the most points, so their class won the trophy! They were followed closely in score by the 8th and 11th Grades, who tied for second place, and the 7th Grade took third place. Special thanks to student leads Mia B. '25 and Beatrix M. '25 for their hard work and enthusiasm in planning and coordinating this fun event; to Trevor Olson, Nick Scacco, Ryan Stevens, and Alicia Tembi for being the event judges; to Tom Hopper for providing the music; to all of the students who participated in the Pep Rally events; and to everyone in the audience for cheering and supporting our students. This event was so much fun for everyone, and we are glad it has become an annual event at The Grauer School!

This week, Dr. Grauer celebrates National Banjo Day, honoring the joy of the old-time tradition of making music by hand, and keeping this heritage alive. To study our heritage is fundamental to what educators and schools are charged with doing with a rising generation.
Grauer's High School Theatre Arts Department presented Pride and Prejudice. Congratulations to all of our cast members and hardworking crew members on a fabulous show!
What happens when school leaders feel they can’t speak their passionate beliefs freely—even while teaching banned books? In an age of political tension and self-censorship, this piece explores the quiet dilemmas facing educators.
One of the highlights of the Poland Unveiled expedition was our unforgettable visits to monuments remembering the atrocities of the Holocaust and the resilience of the Polish people, which brought to life our World History curriculum on World War II. Our visits to each of these places were emotional, meaningful, and deeply important for our students.
The Grauer School balances college preparation with Expeditionary Learning, where we cancel classes 2 weeks each year in order to engage our students in humanitarian and ecological service. During Spring Expeditions week 2025, all of our students traveled in California and around the world.
At The Grauer School, and any great school, dance and exercise isn’t just art—it’s a powerful form of learning even if it often stays in the shadows. Learn not just how dance is transforming students’ minds, bodies, and spirits—but why joy might be the most radical lesson of all.
