The Advanced Biology: Human Anatomy and Physiology class hosted Dr. Matt Linnik, father of Jake P. '21, on Tuesday, April 14, via a Zoom videoconference. Dr. Linnik is a Senior Research Fellow in immunology and infectious diseases for the Lilly Biotechnology Center in San Diego. His organization is using the blood from COVID-19 survivors to isolate antibodies that neutralize the virus, with the goal of finding antibodies that can reduce symptoms and potentially save lives. They're hoping to start clinical trials within a few months.
Dr. Linnick discussed the latest developments in fighting COVID-19 with the class. Each student asked him a question pertaining to the disease, and the discussion was moderated by teacher Dana Abplanalp-Diggs.
