Grauer's World History Class: Enlightenment Salon

In World History, 10th grade students have been studying the Age of Enlightenment, an intellectual movement in Early Modern Europe that espoused a plethora of new ideas to include rights for women and religious tolerance.

Over the last few weeks, students researched a philosopher and created a miniature magazine about their life and views on society. As a final activity, students dressed as their philosopher and attended our "Enlightenment Salon," where they represented the attitudes and opinions of their influential figure. Some of the figures they represented included kings and rulers of Prussia, France, and Russia; famous suffragettes; authors and musicians, and more.
