Grauer Visual Arts Classes Compete in "Nailed It!" Cake Decorating Competition
From Johnny King, Visual Arts Teacher: On December 16 and December 18, students in 8th Grade Visual Arts class, as well as a number of older students from various Visual Arts classes, teamed up to compete in a "Nailed It!" cake competition to recreate holiday-themed cakes of their choice for their semester final projects. If you haven't seen the show Nailed It!, it's a fun and outrageous show on Netflix where amateur bakers are tasked to recreate professionally-decorated creative cakes to the best of their abilities.
On Monday morning, teams of Visual Arts students baked their cakes in the Grauer Teaching Kitchen. On Wednesday, the Visual Arts student teams decorated their cakes. After the cakes were finished, they were judged on the categories of Creativity, Taste, Artist Statement, and if the students "Nailed" their cakes. The students in both groups did an amazing job and had a blast collaborating on this project!
