Grauer U.S. History Class Welcomes Immigration Panel
From Alicia Tembi, U.S. History Teacher:
On Wednesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 9, Grauer 11th grade students in U.S. History class welcomed a panel of immigrants and immigration-related experts to supplement their unit on immigration. The firsthand accounts provided insight into the realities of immigration including the push factors leading to immigration, challenges faced along the way, and the political, social and economic benefits that came along with living in the United States.
The panelists included Grauer French teacher Frida LeBreton; Grauer parents Pavla Nygaard, Efrain Figueroa, and Darian Bregman speaking about their own experiences with immigration to the United States; Grauer parent and Immigration Attorney Anna Robin; and Tyrone Ellis with the United States Border Patrol. The 11th graders had the opportunity to ask questions to dig deeper and make connections between the content studied in class and the experiences of these community members. Thank you to the panelists for graciously sharing their time!
