Congratulations to Grauer Senior Rhian B. '19 for being featured in an article "Unsung hero no more: Encinitas student writes a song about civil rights protester" in the September 11, 2018 edition of the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper (click here to read the article).
The article describes Rhian's project for last year's U.S. History class with Alicia Tembi, when Rhian wrote a song called "A War That Can't Be Won (When I Speak)" to honor Juliette Hampton Morgan, an unsung Civil Rights hero. The project had a very special outcome because Juliette Hampton Morgan's family members heard the song on Youtube and connected with Rhian and her family to tell her how much the song meant to them.

Dr. Grauer is amidst a late draft of his forthcoming book, “The Way to Pancho’s Kitchen: Original Instructions for Small School Leadership,” and is thrilled to post a sample chapter here. This book, six years in the making, should be coming out late this year.
KUSI and FOX5 San Diego featured The Grauer School’s state-ranked archery teams on their Sports news. Emmy-Award winning sports reporter Allison Edmonds came to campus with her crew to interview Trevor Olson, our Athletic Director and Archery Team Coach, as well as some of our student-athletes.

Pre-Calculus classes went on a field trip to the beach to write trigonometric equations from data observed and collected from breaking waves. The student teams then checked their data through a surf report app. This was a great example of project-based learning through a fun math project!
