Grauer Student Athlete - Fencing World Championship Team
Congratulations to Grauer Junior Jaden C. '22 for being selected to be a member of the 2021 USA National Fencing Junior and Cadet Men's Sabre World Championship Team. The World Championships will be held in Cairo, Egypt, on April 3-11. After a most challenging year void of competitions and few high level group training opportunities, this is both an amazing silver lining and dream-come-true chance that Jaden was working toward for the last few years. USA Fencing selects only 4 Junior (19 and under) and 3 Cadet (17 and under) athletes, per type of weapon for the men's and women's teams. As a USA Cadet Team member, Jaden has begun his World's training here privately in San Diego with his primary coach, Roman Sydorenko of La Jolla Fencing Academy, and in Torrance at South Bay Fencing Academy with Coach Matteo Gallo, for an individualized Olympic-style training camp. He will soon travel to Nellya Fencers Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia to train for 10 days with the USA head Sabre Coach, Terrence Lasker - and then he will travel on to Cairo with the USA team "bubble." Jaden is grateful to the entire Grauer faculty for always supporting his fencing passions and helping him manage all of the demands that come with being a USA All-American, All-Academic, traveling scholar-athlete. The truly unique program that the Grauer School offers has allowed him to make this incredibly competitive National Team selection possible.
