Film Studies Class Field Trip
From Dina Treibel, Film Studies Teacher:
Film Studies students, John Joseph H. '24 and Arthur P. '24, took a field trip to the Studio School college located at the Los Angeles Center Studios on Tuesday, October 15. Studio School is the only college located in a Hollywood studio with professional sound stages. During the field trip, we were treated to a master film class presented by the Department Chair of General Education, Dr. Will Linn, who discussed mythology and the hero’s journey, a storyline depicted in the narrative of every Hollywood film. The students were given swag and then taken on a tour of the campus. They visited film sets like the morgue, jail, police booking and interview rooms, and other sets used in multiple popular films and television series. They took a break from the tour in the Mad Men Lounge and got to view the numerous films and TV series shot on set or in the sound stages which were listed on the wall. The students crossed the footbridge where scenes from the movie, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," were filmed with the city skyline as a background. The tour ended at the 360 Dome Theater, right next to Flix Café where we had lunch with the rest of the Hollywood studio film crews. A great time was had by all!
