8th Grade Theatre Arts Students Present "13" The Musical
From Erin Langen, Theatre Arts Teacher and Director:
The Theatre Arts Department presented the musical "13" on February 27, featuring 8th Grade student actors. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of creating and rehearsing this show, and we thank our families, friends, and The Grauer School for your support. It takes a village, so I’d also like to thank the entire Visual & Performing Arts Department for their collaboration and support for the show.
Dana Abplanalp-Diggs, Head of School, said, "This was such an enjoyable production, from the talented cast, to the hilarious dialogue, to the parallels between the story and what our middle schoolers (especially our 8th graders) are currently going through. It couldn't have been a more perfect story choice, and it was fun to see so many of our 8th graders come together to bring this story to life." Principal Alicia Tembi added, "There was such a beautiful, collaborative energy on stage. I loved seeing our veteran actors on stage alongside new actors. Thank you, Erin, for giving our students the courage to step outside their comfort zones and perform on stage. It was a memorable evening and your actors definitely walked away with a great sense of pride and accomplishment. Brava!"

Our strongest memories of school often aren’t about tests or class lessons—they're about the moments and encounters that shaped us: a teacher who saw something in us before we did, or the unspoken codes of status and survival. What do you remember?
On a trip to the grocery store, Dr. Grauer spotted a small fitness studio named The Exercise Coach. Their pitch: "20-minute strength workouts, twice a week." When he tried out a lesson, the last thing he expected was to be re-taught his own educational philosophy.
After completing a unit on food vocabulary, Spanish students had the opportunity to experience authentic Peruvian cuisine. For many students, this was a culinary adventure, as they sampled these dishes for the first time, broadening their appreciation of Peruvian flavors and culture.
Grauer Seniors acted as assistants for a day to other students or Grauer faculty members who hired their services in the "Hire A Senior" fundraiser. Some Seniors assisted with classes or other tasks, some brought food to campus for the person they were assisting, and everyone had a lot of fun!
The Grauer School held their annual Middle School Geography Bee, and the eight finalists all did an incredible job of putting their geography skills to the test and impressing us all.
Congratulations to Cailin H. '30 for representing The Grauer School at the San Diego County Scripps Regional Spelling Bee on March 6. We were so proud to have Cailin represent our school!
