The Grauer School's teachers presented Academic and Core Values Awards at our schoolwide assembly on May 13. The departments that presented awards included Social Studies, Math, English, Science, World Languages, Physical Education, and Community Service. Awards were presented for each class or grade, and overall departmental awards were presented for Middle School and High School students in each department. Some teachers also presented special awards that were specific to their department.
Core Value Awards were also presented, with a Middle School recipient and a High School recipient presented with an award for each of the school's six Core Values: Accountability, Compassion, Intellectual Curiosity, Perseverance, Resourcefulness, and Self-Advocacy.
Principal Alicia Tembi presented Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Awards for the 8th Grade to Yasmine M. '30 and for the 11th Grade to Zoe Br. '26.
Dana Abplanalp-Diggs, Head of School presented the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce Awards. The 8th Grade Student of the Year award was presented to Gwyneth M. '29, and the Grauer Teacher of the Year award was presented to Johnny King, Visual Arts Teacher. Gwyneth and Johnny will be honored by the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce at the annual Salute to Education event, which highlights outstanding achievements in education by teachers and students in the Encinitas School District.

The Grauer Visual & Performing Arts Department presented the 21st annual Grauerpalooza celebration of the Arts, featuring performances from our Middle School and High School music programs, Visual Arts and Multimedia displays, student booths, and more. It was a fantastic event!
As a culminating project for their Civil Rights Movement unit, 11th graders completed "Voices of Social Justice" presentations. Each student investigated a "voice" from the Civil Rights era that was forgotten, misunderstood or suppressed, and then crafted a piece of art that embodied that individual's story.
