A Holiday Message From Dr. Stuart Grauer
Happy Holidays and winter season to all of you, in all your faiths and families. When we think of a school we often first picture students in classes with teachers, but...
As I travel, correspond, and learn from great teachers, I keep seeing that the transformative work that schools do is not just in the classes, but in the creation of the whole community—great schools know no classroom walls.
Today, in our world, schools are at the base of the biggest issues that societies are going through—the fears, the speed of everything, the pain we go through, and the need to control rather than to free. It’s all here.
Grauer School faculty, parents, alumni, whole families, neighbors and others form a web of support for our students and for one another, so our school can become a more spacious network of strength and love. The network includes our classes, our quad, our stages and fields, our green nature preserve, our community and coast. Our families and neighbors create a culture of safety and trust that starts here, and spreads. Even when they err, this safety and trust is what our young people need to find their creativity, their collaborative nature—their long-range life purposes.
The Grauer School's families have given unsparingly of themselves through time, treasure, talent and commitment, to create a place of heart where our students can face the future with the courage and resolution they will need. This is our cause, and the purpose of our ceremony at this time each year. Courage and resolution are what we are celebrating.
Our deep gratitude goes out to our families, friends, and followers — Thank You! On behalf of the faculty and staff at The Grauer School, it is my privilege to wish you a beautiful and happy season.
