Inclusion and Belonging

The Grauer School is a relationship-based school that fosters connections among students, faculty, and staff. We operate under the guiding principle that Our Students Mean the World to Us, and that means all of our students. Our community consists of students from a variety of racial and cultural backgrounds, religions, socioeconomic levels, gender identities, sexual orientations, and family structures. We are committed to allowing each of our students be their authentic self while helping each of them “find their teams.” We are consistently evaluating our inclusive policies to assess the degree to which our students feel that they belong and are valuable members of our school community.
Inclusion and Belonging at Grauer
The Grauer School was founded on the values of connection, inclusion and support. These characteristics are prioritized above all else, which is critical to developing a more diverse community. Continued research and observation verifies that, year after year, Grauer students are appreciated for who they are, and they are celebrated for who they want to become. With belongingness and inclusion as our starting place, Grauer students feel safe and accepted, which frees them up to engage with the joys of learning and the discoveries of growing up.

Each year, students respond to surveys about how they are feeling to determine whether we are living up to our promises. Among other things, students answered questions about their feelings of support and belonging. We compared their responses to those from students at other independent/private schools, as you can see in the charts below. This data comes from the Challenge Success Surveys of Student Experiences, administered in the Spring of 2025. Challenge Success is a division of Stanford University's Graduate School of Education.

The Grauer School has a diverse set of kids with families from all over the world who make learning more interesting with new perspectives. We would highly recommend Grauer to anyone who has children who are thirsty for knowledge and want to excel in school.”
